What do I need to do to volunteer?

The Rainier Volunteer Library is solely operated and maintained by volunteers. There are many jobs that need to be done with varying time and skill commitment. For example: We need more volunteers to staff the Library. Currently, volunteers are especially needed on Saturdays, as well a substitutes to fill-in last minute gaps in coverage.

We would also like to develop programs, such as training workshops, and children’s story times, but currently do not have staff to develop or present them. Do you have time or talents that you would like to contribute?

Volunteers needed to:

  • Staff the Library
  • Develop programs
  • Provide workshops and trainings
  • Provide story times
  • Sort and process donated materials

Volunteer Application

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator and schedule a time to come in for an informal introductory meeting. Once you are ready and have been through orientation, you will be asked to complete an application that includes a Washington State background check for adult and child abuse.

Monthly Meeting

A monthly meeting for volunteers, as well as anyone interested in getting involved, is held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Library at 7 p.m. Please come. All are welcome.
