About Us

The Rainier Volunteer Library officially opened its doors in November 2009. By January 2010, there were over 30 volunteers donating their time to keep the library open 21 hours (3 days) a week, and which soon increased to 27 hours (4 days) a week. The library is totally run by volunteers and donations.

The idea of a library in Rainier was spawned by a few people with the idea of creating a community resource, where library materials and services would be available locally, and as a place to facilitate a positive community spirit. See Our History. The space is provided by the Rainier Historical Society (RABC) in the Rainier Historic School’s restored “First Grade” room. Timberland Regional Library generously donated shelving, furniture, computers, and a self-check-out Kiosk, and made the Rainier Library a holds drop stop. The books, magazines, and videos available for check-out in the library are all donated.

Volunteers are needed, and we welcome your donations of books, and VHS and DVD videos. See more details on the Volunteer and Donate pages.

To help the Library grow and become a resource that you need and use, your feedback, comments, and suggestions are very much appreciated. See the Contact for phone and email information. We are also conducting a needs survey, which will also help us identify what we can do to meet your needs.
